BABY Red-Shouldered HAWKS ARE HERE!!

My baby Red-shouldered hawks have fledged. They are quite goofy acting in my yard. One of them is constantly hanging out on my deck and making himself quite obvious to the songbirds. Today I saw him plucking out earth worms out of my yards. Not a bad appetizer. I hope they can find enough food to survive? So cute!!

Carolina Wrens Nesting in my Yard

I found baby Carolina wrens nesting in a Trash bag in my garage. I had stuffed one in my gardening area inside a pot. It seems they would be SO hot in there? We made an effort to keep the garage door open, but it surely is hot in the garage as we are in the 90's already here. Regretably the male is deceased and she is on her own raising the nestling. My husband accidentally killed him as he fled under the garage door and he was closing it and he got crushed:( BOO_HOO
I will surely make sure to put up some wren boxes next year. Nesting in the garage, I do not know if this is a good idea? I am not sure if leaving the garage door cracked will give the bablies enough light for their eyes to develop properly. Does anybody know??

Carolina Wren Attacked by my Cat in the Garage!

i did not realize I had a caroline Wren nesting in my garage. I let me cat out there yesterday and what a mistake that was. He found the wren and tortured her a for a few hours. She lost several feathers.I was able to guide her gently outside. She spent most of her time in my fireplace. I guess she liked the logs!! He mate was calling the whole time outside the window. I think his song led her out the window. I later saw the pair next to each other on a feeder post...Several weeks have passed and I see baby wrens at the feeder.

Cooper Hawk update

I named my hawks Cooper and Betty Boop-They are still busy nesting and adding a few sticks to the nest. I am not really sure if they have created any babies yet as I still see them mating and it seems the male is trying really ha rd to create one! No sign of babies yet.I saw the pair busy today in the AM repairing the nest, etc. Painting is being done on my house so birds are scarce. It is slow.

6.27.09- I saw my first fledged Coopers Hawk Today

All Shook Up!

I just had a member from Snoopbuddy.com call me. She was crying on the phone and all upset about her husband. She is sure he is cheating on her. They have been married for 17 years. She has 2 kids. He has erased all his cell phone records. All the signs are there. I feel for her. She is the reason I started this site. A woman like her who has that gut feeling her husband is cheating on her. She said she is depressed and is not taking care of herself. Her husband is not calling her during the day or making any effort to be with her. He is not spending time with the kids or taking care of the house. Their sex life has declined, etc. When she calls him at work he ignores her and does not call her nearly as much as he used to!!Bummer. She does not have the means for a private investigator as he keep tight reigns on all the money!! I feel good that I am helping her. This is what the site is all about!!! Check it out if you need it. It is cool! I am glad I am helping people.

Cooper Hawks Pictures

Chris from GABO came over to photograph the hawks and not one showed for him or the red-breasted nuthatch either. Poor guy, he had no luck in my yard looking for birds. I saw 2 red-breasted nuthatches today at the feeder. Hopefully, I will have some pictures of the nesting Coopers Hawks. They are quite elusive

I have been seeing them daily now-things are heating up at the nest. She is istting on eggs for sure!
